Harris Poll, on behalf of The Nationwide Retirement Institute, conducted the survey on long-term care, with 1,214 U.S. adults age 50 and older and 508 U.S. adults defined as caregivers now or in the past. For the purpose of this research, a caregiver was defined as anyone who independently provides long-term care to a friend or family member regardless of being paid for care or not.
