There seems to be some discontent in the office places of America, according to Glassdoor.com.
Employee tenure is about four years and has continually decreased since 2014, according to a recent survey by the crowd-sourced job information website.
The survey also found that it pays for workers to research a prospective workplace beforehand. With that in mind, the website has surveyed workers and compiled of a ranking of places that could be considered the best places to work, based on how employees rated the companies and their CEOs.
These 10 companies, in ascending order, were tops in the rankings:
10. Ultimate Software
Founded in 1990, this Weston, Fla.-based software company says happy employees equals happy customers. Employees develop and deliver a cloud-based management tool, UltiPro, to assist companies with employee onboarding, benefits, online training and payroll computations. The CEO, Scott Scherr, received a 97 percent approval rating and 93 percent of workers would recommend the company to a friend.
9. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
The pediatric research institution, founded by Danny Thomas in 1962, is devoted to treating and preventing pediatric catastrophic diseases. CEO James Downing received a 99 percent approval rating and 98 percent would recommend the company to a friend.
8. World Wide Technology
WWT celebrated its 25th anniversary in business this year. The technology company is called by many the Silicon Valley of St. Louis" and works with large companies and private organizations on technology and supply chain solutions. With about 5,000 employees nationwide, 91 percent would refer a friend to the company.
7. HubSpot
Located in Cambridge, Mass., HubSpot has offices around the world to service its growing customer base. The company’s integrated platform delivers marketing automation, social media publishing, blogging, website content management and analytics. HubSpot was named as a best place to work for the last four years. CEO Brian Halligan has a 97 percent approval rating.
6. lululemon
The Vancouver, B.C. -based yoga apparel company was voted one of the best places to work for the past two years, according to employee reviews. Benefits include discounts on apparel and a workout allowance. Last year, the company rated as one of the best places to interview. Of the employees surveyed, 84 percent would refer a friend to apply for a position.
5. Google
The internet company has continually ranked as one of the best places to work since 2009s. CEO Sundar Pichai has a 95 percent approval rating, and 90 percent of employees would refer a friend to the company. An anonymous employee said, “Almost everything about working here is really awesome.”
4. In-N-Out Burger
The California made-to-order burger joint has 250 locations primarily in the Golden State. Lynsi Snyder was the highest rated CEO for the past two years, and employees gave her a 97 percent approval rating. The company is family owned and does not offer franchise opportunities. Benefits include a free burger for every shift worked.
3. Boston Consulting Group
The Boston-based global management and business strategy consultant has been on the Glassdoor.com list of top places to work since 2009. BCG has 90 offices in 50 counties. CEO Rich Lesser received a 93 percent approval rating. One review read, “"Really great people who are friendly and smart—made friends for life here"
2. Bain & Company
The company is one of the world’s leading consulting firms. With 56 offices worldwide, Bain & Company works with all types of industries, including technology, health care, aerospace and retail. Bain has also been one of the 100 strategic partners in the World Economic Forum.
1. Facebook
The social media company has repeatedly been listed as one of the best places to work and has the top rated CEO. Work environment and team cooperation were listed as reasons for the high ranking of Facebook, in addition to generous health insurance, four months of maternity/paternity leave and healthy snacks. CEO Mark Zuckerburg’s rating was 98 percent and 94 percent of employees said they would recommend a friend to apply for a position with the company.
