The Financial Planning Association has recognized three female financial professionals for their work to promote diversity in the financial field.

Charlotte Fox, a wealth advisor with Heritage Wealth Advisors in Richmond, Va.; Jenneffer Vazquez Moran,  a Santa Ana, Calif.-based executive assistant paraplanner with Dynasty Family Office in Columbus, Ohio; and Tarin Washington, a CFP professional in North Carolina have been honored with the FPA Diversity Scholarship for their work on diversity issues, the FPA said.

The three will receive one-year FPA memberships and complimentary registration and travel expenses to the FPA Annual Conference 2023 in Phoenix in September.

Fox volunteers in her local community, working with nearly a dozen organizations that aim to support underserved individuals and families. For 10 years, she has volunteered in several capacities with the Junior League of Richmond, where she has volunteered as a mentor and speaker on basic financial planning concepts, the FPA said.

Vazquez Moran is an aspiring CFP professional who wants to use her financial planning knowledge to assist women and those in diverse communities improve their financial lives. She has established a relationship with the office of the mayor of Santa Ana to share the importance of financial education with those in the local community, the FPA said.

Washington works to create more awareness of financial planning among the public and underrepresented communities. She has worked with corporate, non-profit and military organizations in various capacities to share the financial planning message and to help people discover a sense of financial wellness, the FPA said.

“The FPA Diversity Scholarship is awarded to financial services students and professionals who demonstrate and act upon an intense desire to promote diversity in the financial planning profession,” the FPA said. “The criteria for applicants includes raising awareness of the profession in diverse communities; serving diverse communities with financial planning; and increasing professional opportunities for diverse communities within the financial planning profession.”

Mahoney said in a statement. "These remarkable individuals are working to make financial planning more accessible and improve our profession.”
