The creation of the OneFPA Advisory Council is being created to increase the number of voices involved. It will comprise a representative from all 86 of the chapters plus leaders of the Next-Gen community. “Their role would be to provide strategic vision and input to the board of directors regarding our organization.” The FPA will start soliciting members from the chapters this month for the formative meeting in September, she said. Chapter leaders will make the selection.

But critics such as Bob Veres and Michael Kitces have been relentless. Some have gone as far as to say that the chapters could secede.

“The real question,” wrote Kitces on his blog Nerd’s Eye View, “should be whether the OneFPA Network is the right step to take in the first place, what goals the leadership is really trying to accomplish, and whether there might be a better way to get the same results … without spending $1 million of FPA’s cash reserves and thousands of hours of volunteer energy for an initiative that may not substantively solve any of the problems that FPA actually faces.”
