McCune pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and health care fraud, 13 counts of health care fraud, 11 counts of wire fraud, and three counts of aggravated identity theft. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 19. He pleaded guilty to all charges against him on the second day of trial. McCune faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and health-care fraud, 10 years for each count of health-care fraud, 20 years for each count of wire fraud, and two years for each count of aggravated identity theft, according to the Justice Department.

The three men, the DOJ noted, were indicted along with seven others in December 2019 for their roles in the fraud. An additional five retired NFL players have since been charged in the scheme.

All 12 of the other defendants charged have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health-care fraud, the DOJ said.
