I sat next to the lobbyist from the Chamber at the Conflict of Interest hearings. He read well from a script but did not seem to grasp what it means to have to tell clients the truth. To him "the truth can be ...well...adjusted." My impression was he was more interested in earning his six figure paycheck by reading from a script rather than having to tell clients the unvarnished truth. Sometimes it hard to do what's in the best interests of clients when you have a sales manager breathing down your neck, a quota, a $20,000 per month "nut" to crack and a younger, smarter, faster guy standing in the shadows ready to rip your head off the moment he smells blood in the water. Screw fiduciary duty. Its kill or be killed. Take no prisoners. In the land of the blind a 1-eyed man is KING.
