UBS Wealth Management USA has snagged a five-person wealth management team that until recently oversaw $700 million in assets for high-net-worth clients at Merrill Lynch.

UBS announced yesterday it had lured the Coutant Group, a Greenwich, Conn., team led by brothers Kevin and Keith Coutant. The team is listed on Forbes’ “Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams” roster for 2023. Both Kevin and Keith Coutant are listed as “Best-In-State” wealth advisors by Forbes. The typical net worth of the team's clients is $3 million to $25 million, according to the Forbes list.

The two lead a team that also includes two senior wealth strategy associates, Meredith Mitchell Smith and Kristen Quick, and client service associate Henry Hamilton, UBS said in a statement.

The team will operate in UBS’s Greenwich office, which is managed by Erin McDonald. UBS said in its release that they are joining the UBS Soundview Wealth Management Market, led by Mara Glassel.

According to BrokerCheck, Kevin Coutant had been with Merrill Lynch since 1999, first as a broker, then as an investment advisor. Keith Countant had been with Merrill since 2003.
