As for the traditional energy sectors like oil and gas, they will still have a role in the energy grid. After all, there are places like Minnesota that don’t get a lot of sun and other areas that get little wind.

Giroux believes that for customers, regulators and politicians, this means a lot more clean energy at affordable prices. Moreover, regulatory relations between politicians and utilities also are likely to improve. Anyone watching PG&E and the state of California today can see these relations can’t get much worse.
