Military veterans making the transition to civilian life look for a wide range of jobs, but certain professions seem to attract their attention more than other. And financial advisor is tops on the list, according to CareerCast.

Technology and medical careers also appeal to those who have received military training, according to the job search website. “The discipline, teamwork and leadership qualities emphasized in the military direct translate to the civilian workforce. Skills gained during military service are in high-demand,” says Kyle Kensing, online content editor at CareerCast.

Through various public and private programs, the unemployment rate for veterans that stood near 10 percent in 2010 has been cut almost in half today, CareerCast says.
