WalletHub evaluated 50 U.S. states to determine which have a well-educated population.

The personal finance website compared states on their educational achievement, the quality of their schools and the achievement gaps between races and genders using data sets from adults 25 years old and older.

One of the findings highlighted a tie between six states for having the lowest gender gap in educational attainment. North Dakota, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California and Colorado topped the list. Meanwhile, states like Rode Island, South Carolina and New York are the top three states with the highest gender gap.
