"Because it's using AI, ForwardLane is something more than your standard roboadvisor," Stevenson says. "Roboadvisors have done well to provide service to the bottom end of the wealth management market at low costs, but there's still a wide gap between the mass affluent and ultra-high net worth or institutional investors. AI is going to help us close that gap."

Great writeup Christopher. It's great to see that the first batch of robo-advisors are already being subtly disrupted by this next batch of active AI advisors (which in some circles is also referred to as "Robo-Advisor 2.0", e.g. Hedgeable). We strongly believe leveraging machine learning and other AI technologies will drive above average returns for both institutional and retail investors. It will however, re-ignite the debate regarding passive vs. active management. Like ForwardLane, I am also passionate about achieving above-benchmark returns and artificial intelligence. My company Responsive Capital Management aims to beat market returns via artificial intelligence and tactical asset allocation. @Christopher: Given the opportunity, I'm keen to speak with you about the next generation of robo-advisors powered by big data and AI.
