Retirement anxiety was prevalent among all age groups in the survey. Only 35 percent of the pre-retirement respondents said that they would have enough money to survive through their retirement, versus 33 percent of current retirees. Almost half of the overall respondents said that they expected their standard of living to decline in retirement.
The study is based on a telephone survey of 1,253 Americans conducted by Harris Poll in July and August.
