Boyce Greer, a top Fidelity Institutional executive, died in a kayaking accident in Idaho on Sunday, according to the Boise County Sheriff's Office.

Greer, 55, who lived in Amherst, N.H., was fatally injured on the North Fork of the Payette River in an accident around 12:34 p.m. on Sunday, according to the sheriff's office.

Greer was pronounced dead at the scene. Further details about the accident were not immediately available, an official said.

Greer was the vice chairman of Pyramis Global Advisors, the institutional investment arm of Fidelity Investments. He was also president of Strategic Advisers and Fidelity's global asset allocation group, working at the company for nearly 25 years.

Greer was also the leading investor and owner in Liquidlogic/Legacy paddle sports, which makes kayaking gear. He is well known in the kayaking world and appears in several YouTube kayaking instructional videos, including one about his recent kayaking expeditions at the Grand Canyon.

"On behalf of everyone at Fidelity, we extend our sincere condolences to the Greer family," said Fidelity Investments spokesman Vincent Loporchio.

"Boyce was more than just an accomplished business leader, he was an admired and greatly respected manager, colleague and friend," Loporchio added. "The entire Fidelity family is deeply saddened and will greatly miss him."
