Robert Gerstemeier, president and founder of Gerstemeier Financial Group in Chicago and Cincinnati, was elected by the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (Napfa) Board of Directors as national chairman.

He will serve as chair-elect until his term begins on September 1, Napfa announced today. Napfa is a trade organization whose membership is composed of fee-only advisors.

Gerstemeier began his finance career as an analyst in a wealth management organization advising high-net-worth individuals and corporate clients. In 2003, he founded Gerstemeier Financial Group LLC, a fee-only registered investment advisory firm.

“I’m looking forward to building on all the efforts of past Napfa leaders and to continue that process as we develop programs and services to support our members,” says Gerstemeier. “During my term, I also want to continue educating the general public about the exceptional advantage they gain by engaging a Napfa advisor to help them navigate their financial lives.”

Prior to starting his financial career, Gerstemeier served in the U.S. Navy as a flight officer and has been a member of the U.S. Navy Reserves for the past 10 years. In 2009, he was recalled to active duty for a deployment in Afghanistan.
