The pay back to victims of jailed financier Bernard Madoff has reached $6 billion with a new pro rata distribution of $351.6 million, the Securities Investor Protection Corp. announced Monday.

So far, 1,129 accounts against the Madoff firm have been totally reimbursed out of the 2,190 accounts with 2,518 claims allowed by Trustee Irving Picard.  Each allowed claim in the amount of $925,000 or less will be fully satisfied.

The lion’s share of the latest distribution came from a $325 settlement with JPMorgan Chase.

SIPC President Stephen Harbeck said he is pleased with the results Picard has obtained in getting money back to the investors Madoff fleeced.
