Pamela C. Dyson has been named deputy chief information officer of the Securities and Exchange Commission and given the responsibility of modernizing the commission's information technology systems, SEC officials announced Thursday.

Since joining the SEC in November 2010, Dyson has held positions in the agency's Office of Information Technology. Dyson will work with the agency's divisions and offices to maintain a secure and efficient technology infrastructure, SEC officials said.

Dyson joined the SEC as assistant director for enterprise operations, where she managed day-to-day operations, including network engineering, database administration, data storage, telecommunications and support services for the SEC's headquarters and 11 regional offices.  She was promoted to chief technology officer, where she implemented a security program, managed enterprise architecture and system development, and enhanced the project management and investment oversight functions.

Prior to joining the SEC, Dyson was deputy chief information officer for the U.S. International Trade Commission.
