T. Boone Pickens will be a keynote speaker at TD Ameritrade's Partnership 2009 National Conference February 4-7 and the Clean-Tech Investor Summit Jan. 21-22.

Pickens has funded a campaign to reduce the United States' dependence on foreign oil. At his PickensPlan Web site, and in personal appearances, he describes how he feels the country's dependence on foreign oil threatens the U.S. economy, environment and national security.

In response to President-elect Obama's economic stimulus speech yesterday, Pickens said it was "an important first step in solving our nation's energy crisis and getting our economy moving again. Investing in alternative energy, focusing on conservation and rebuilding our power grid to deliver that energy to every corner of our country are critical components of this effort. ... A program focused on renewable energy, conservation, improving the grid and replacing foreign oil with domestic resources in our transportation system is something that I believe will create hundreds of thousands of jobs and revitalizes our economy."

The TD Ameritrade conference will be held at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nev. Pickens will be the opening keynote speaker on Thursday, Feb. 5. The conference agenda features a variety of sessions for financial advisors aimed at helping them run their practices.

The Clean-Tech Investor Summit will be held at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resrot & Spa at Indian Wells, Palm Springs, Calif. The agenda includes many other speakers are planned on clean tech and sustainable investing issues.
