Veteran financial advisor Curtis H. Parry Jr., formerly with Northwestern Mutual, where he and his team managed approximately $400 million in client assets, has joined with Dynasty Financial Partners to launch Unique Wealth, an independent registered advisor (RIA), in Tampa Bay, Fla., the companies announced.

Parry, founder and CEO of his new firm, is joined by his former Northwestern team, which includes advisor John Mosher, partner, vice president, business and estate strategies; advisor Tim Bartlett, senior portfolio manager; advisor Jessica Holbin, senior private wealth planner; Jeff Sievers, senior private wealth advisor; and private wealth planners Travis Gingras, Kyle Waterbury, Erica Grundza, Jon Novinski, and Mike Talbot.

Parry said in the news release that after he first heard Dynasty CEO Shirl Penney on a Fourth of July weekend podcast, he began to explore the independent movement.

“Once I began to do some research ... it became very clear that there were significant advantages for my clients and for our business to launch an RIA,” Parry said in the news release. “The fact that Dynasty has moved its headquarters (from New York City) to St. Petersburg in the Tampa Bay area was icing on the cake.  They have been tremendous partners as well as neighbors as we launch our new firm.”

According to Penney, advisors that choose to go independent need to fit the same mold as Parry.

“Curtis exemplifies the traits that make a successful entrepreneur: he is smart, flexible, strategic and listens to his clients,” Penney said in the news release. “Once he made the decision to go independent, he and his team have been all in.”

Penney founded Dynasty Financial Partners in 2010 to provide wealth management services and technology platforms to select independent wealth management teams.

As part of Unique Wealth’s partnership with Dynasty, the firm will work with its Turnkey Asset Management Platform (TAMP); investment and M&A services; and marketing department.

Unique Wealth has selected Pershing as its custodian. Other resource partners include Black Diamond and eMoney.
