LL Global, the umbrella organization for insurance trade associations LIMRA and LOMA, has announced it elected Michael J. Doughty, the president and CEO of Manulife Canada, as chair of the LL Global board of directors for 2018. Both LIMRA and LOMA made the announcement this week.

Doughty will replace Rino D’Onofrio, president and CEO of RBC Life Insurance Company.

Brandon D. Carter, chairman and president of the USAA Life Insurance Company, was elected vice chair and will succeed Doughty as chair in 2019.

The LL Global board ensures the research and education programs they create continue to add value to member companies. Seven new members were elected to the board this year for three-year terms.

“The LL Global board of directors continues to exhibit dedication and willingness to serve for the advancement of the industry,” said Robert A. Kerzner, president and CEO of LIMRA, LOMA and LL Global. We need executives like these to help guide this very important industry association through these turbulent times of regulatory uncertainty and changing business models.”

The board announcement was made at the 2017 LIMRA Annual Conference on October 23.

LL Global was forged on January 1, 2010, from a merger of LIMRA and LOMA that was completed in order to unify their management structures.
