Minnesota registered investment advisor representative Steve Berger was among the 58 victims killed by shooter Stephen Paddock at the Las Vegas country music festival across from the Mandalay Bay Sunday night.

Berger, a father of three young children, had offices in Minnetonka and St. Paul, Minn., and had been a registered advisor rep for more than 10 years.

He had gone to Las Vegas to celebrate his 44th birthday, his father, who waited three excruciating days to hear his son's fate, told CBS News in Minnesota.

Friends said three people worked to perform CPR on Berger after they discovered he had been shot during Paddock's shooting melee, which police now believe went on for more than nine minutes.

"We will be putting out a statement later today," a spokesperson for EFS Advisors in Cambridge, Minn., told Financial Advisor.

Berger touted a holistic approach to financial planning on his website, offering comprehensive financial planning and wealth management services to individuals, educators and businesses. According to the website, the firm specializes in educators.

"My approach is unique because I work to be more than your financial advisor," Berger said in a video on his site. "That means being right by your side through life's big financial decisions as well as the small ones."
