The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards
has named a university professor as chair of the organization's Board
of Examiners.
David M. Cordell, associate professor at Texas Tech
University, will head the board responsible for ensuring the quality of
the CFP certification exam and administering grants and awards.
In addition to teaching at several colleges and universities, Cordell
has been a pension specialist with Aetna Life Insurance and Annuity
Company and worked as an independent financial planner and a consultant
for four years.
"David's commitment to the financial planning
profession through education will be a great benefit to the CFP Board,"
says Barton C. Francis, chair-elect of the CFP Board of Governors. "His
experience as both an independent financial planner and a full-time
academic at three different CFP Board-registered programs brings an
invaluable perspective to the Board of Examiners."
