Boston Private, a wealth management and private banking company headquartered in Boston, has appointed John Longley as president of its western region, according to a news release.

In his new role at Boston Private, Longley will provide leadership and oversight for all West Coast activities. He will be based in the firm’s San Francisco office.

Longley has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Boston Private, he served as managing director, head of private wealth at BlackRock iShares. He has a bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College.
