CIBC U.S. Private Wealth Management has appointed John C. Tennaro to head the firm’s ESG & Impact Investing Solutions at CIBC Private Wealth, U.S., the company announced today in a news release.

Tennaro, a senior vice president at CIBC Private Wealth’s U.S. Mid-Atlantic region, has over 20 years of experience in investment management and 15 years of experience focusing on the ESG (environmental, social and governance) space. He will continue to lead the firm’s U.S. ESG Advisory Group, while assuming new leadership responsibilities, according to Dave Donabedian, chief investment officer of CIBC Private Wealth, U.S.

“In John’s expanded role, he will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our firm’s approach to ESG & Impact Investing,” Donabedian said in the news release. “This includes establishing and promoting our firm’s presence in the space, while serving as a resource and voice for our clients and professionals.”

Donabedian also said that Tennaro would continue to serve as a senior member of the Multi-Manager Investment Program (MMIP) team, focusing on investment manager due diligence, and would also lead in the development and selection of ESG & impact investment strategies.

Tennaro received a bachelor's degree in economics from Fairfield University and holds a certified investment management analyst (CIMA) and chartered SRI counselor (CSRIC) designations.
