For many of us, having a decent pension fund to retire on feels like a thing of the past. The 2008 financial crisis set us back big time, and the rebounds thereafter were checked by talk of rising rates in 2013 and 2018. As we finally get some breathing room, geopolitical tension with China might hammer our dream once more. “[The Chinese] are very smart people. Hopefully that will not become an issue,” JPMorgan’s Dimon assured us in that ill-fated speech last week. Let’s hope both sides of the Pacific are smart enough.
