Former Wilmington Trust advisors Jack Sawyer, Michael Mohr and Todd Tautfest are joining Cresset, a Chicago-based fee-only registered investment advisor, the company announced today.

A spokesman for Cresset said the team would staff the firm’s first office in Atlanta, serving a local and national clientele.

He declined to disclose how much, if any, the three advisors would be bringing Cresset in client assets from Wilmington Trust.

Sawyer joins Cresset as managing director. Prior to joining Cresset, he served as Southeast region president for Wilmington Trust and was responsible for leading wealth advisory services in Georgia, including planning, trusts, investment management, family office and private banking services.

A fiduciary attorney, Sawyer has extensive experience in charitable planning, trusts, estates and private foundations. He serves on the boards of directors for several organizations and has received numerous awards for his humanitarian, community and civic service.

Sawyer earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.

Mohr joins Cresset as the team’s managing director. He previously held the position of managing director for the Southeast region at Wilmington Trust, where he was responsible for leading investment advisory services for high-net-worth clients and managed the firm’s advisors in Georgia.

Mohr has more than 25 years of experience in portfolio management and is a CFA charterholder and member of the CFA Institute. Mohr earned a bachelor’s degree from Furman University and an MBA from Georgia State University.

Tautfest also joins Cresset as managing director. He has nearly 30 years of experience as a wealth manager. Prior to joining Cresset, he served as managing director of the Southeast region at Wilmington Trust, where he worked with high-net-worth clients, business owners, foundations and endowments.

In addition to being a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, Tautfest serves on the boards of directors for several humanitarian, civic and community service organizations. Tautfest earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.
