Alex. Brown, a division of Raymond James, has recruited a veteran financial advisor from Morgan Stanley with more than $658 million in client assets to its Los Angeles office, the company announced today.

Mark J. Pomerantz, managing director and client advisor, spent nearly 40 years at Morgan Stanley. His experience includes account management for individuals, pension plans, trusts, profit-sharing plans and businesses. Pomerantz holds a Ph.D. from the University of California San Diego in biology, with an emphasis on mathematical modeling.

Regional executive Gary Cohen, who manages the Los Angeles office, said Alex. Brown is excited to welcome a high-caliber advisor such as Pomerantz as it continues to grow its presence in the West. “Having spent his entire financial services career at one firm, he did not take the decision to move lightly. We’re pleased that after careful consideration of all potential partners, he chose to align with Alex. Brown as he continues to grow his practice,” Cohen said in a statement.

According to the announcement, Pomerantz is the 19th client advisor Alex. Brown has added within the last year. It noted that the division has experienced significant growth, recruiting advisors with a collective $3.7 billion within the past 12 months.
