Halite Partners has hired Ric Butler, a former J.P. Morgan Asset Management managing director, to double as its chief financial officer and chief operations officer, the Ohio-based firm announced.

For seven years, Butler oversaw the global fixed-income, currency and commodities business at J.P. Morgan Midwest locations.  Halite Partners said in a release that in his new role, Butler will oversee Halite’s financial, operational and administrative systems.

“Ric is an established industry leader with a proven ability to organize, manage and implement change across large business teams. His background and expertise in the institutional market will greatly benefit our clients,” said Phil Shaffer, the founder and chief executive officer, in a statement.

Halite Partners launched in August 2017 to cater to ultra-high-net-worth clients using the experiences of founders Norm Cook and Phil Shaffer, who were formerly with Morgan Stanley’s institutional consulting group, Greystone Consulting. The firm has $110 million assets under management.
