Nashville advisors Cris Arnold, David McIllwain, Charlotte Martin and Brenda Speer have affiliated with Independent Advisor Alliance (IAA) in Charlotte, N.C., to join LPL Financial’s broker-dealer and corporate or hybrid registered investment advisor (RIA) platforms with approximately $240 million in brokerage, advisory and retirement plan assets, according to a news release.
Arnold, McIllwain, Martin and Speer were formerly with Atlanta-based FSC Securities, part of the Advisor Group network of broker-dealers. The group partnered with LPL and IAA to outsource some of their administrative support in a smart, efficient way, Arnold said in the news release.
Arnold and McIllwain, longtime friends since the early 1980s, joined their wealth management practices in 2003, while lifetime friends Martin and Speers formed their practice to serve retirees in rural middle Tennessee. Now that the two groups of advisors have joined the LPL platform by affiliating with IAA, they reportedly plan to formally merge their practices in early 2020 after having worked closely together for years.
LPL Financial Holdings Inc., founded in 1968, is the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer and has headquarters in Boston, San Diego, and Fort Mill, S.C.
