The CFP Board Center for Financial Planning will begin producing the Financial Planning Review, a peer-reviewed academic journal in mid-2018, the center announced Monday.

Published quarterly by John Wiley & Sons, the review will feature scholarly research, including rigorous empirical and methodological analyses directly and indirectly related to financial planning practice, the center says.

The topics can include financial planning; portfolio choice; behavioral finance; household finance; psychology and human decision-making; financial therapy, literacy and wellness; consumer finance and regulation; human sciences; and other relevant subjects.

The journal will be available electronically from the Wiley Online Library and the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning Body of Knowledge website, which will launch in 2018. The Center for Financial Planning Body of Knowledge website will contain additional papers, videos, and interactive capabilities for CFPs.

The editors are Dr. Vicki Bogan, Cornell University; Dr. Chris Geczy, the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania; and Dr. John Grable, University of Georgia. Dr. Charles R. Chaffin, planning director of academic programs and initiatives at The CFP Board Center for Financial Planning, will serve as executive editor.

The call for papers will be issued Oct. 5. Submissions will be subject to a peer-review by researchers from a variety of academic disciplines and research methodologies, according to the center.
