Beirne Wealth Consulting, of Milford, Conn., has hired Phil Sloan as a senior institutional consultant. Sloan will also serve on the firm's investment committee. Prior to joining Beirne, he was a managing director at Fox Asset Management. Sloan has also served as the vice president of institutional sales for MBIA, the vice president of managed accounts at Paine Webber, and a vice president at Merrill Lynch.

Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. has hired 35-year industry veteran James Smyth as managing director and head of its retail equity broker-dealer group. Smyth most recently served as an executive vice president at Knight Equity Markets. Prior to that, Smyth was a managing director and president of Broadcort Capital, a subsidiary of Merrill Lynch.   

Gresham Partners has appointed principal and advisor Matt Bonaguidi as chief wealth strategist, designating him as the firm's in-house expert for estate planning, wealth transfer and philanthropic planning. With Gresham since December 1997, Bonaguidi will work with the client service team to develop initiatives that enhance the firm's wealth planning offerings.
