Matt Thiel, a veteran advisor from Wells Fargo, has joined Raymond James Financial Services’ independent advisor channel in High Point, N.C., the company announced.

Thiel managed about $115 million in client assets. He is joined by client service associates Karen Park, Tyler Kubanka and Morgan Banker. The team operates as Signature Wealth Strategies.

Thiel, who serves as president, has been in the financial services industry for 21 years. He spent 18 years at the High Point branch of Wells Fargo Advisors. Before that, he served as the annuity director for Wachovia Securities, a predecessor firm of Wells Fargo Advisors, at the corporate headquarters in Charlotte.

Thiel said he chose Raymond James because he wanted to be at an innovative firm where he could expand his vision and best serve his clients. “The world continues to change due to Covid-19, and I felt the increased capabilities and sophisticated support services at Raymond James were well worth making a move for my practice and my clients, even in the midst of global uncertainty,” he said in a statement.

Raymond James Financial CEO Paul Reilly said he is proud that the company’s resources and unlimited support continue to attract high-quality advisors like Thiel. “We look forward to him growing his practice in the independent channel.”

Raymond James Financial Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Raymond James Financial Inc., which has about 8,200 financial advisors throughout the U.S., Canada and overseas, and a total of $908 billion in client assets.
