Rockefeller Capital Management announced today that theUgroup, a former Merrill Lynch team with $500 million in assets under management, has joined its private wealth team.

The Los Angeles-based firm was co-founded by John Uriostegui, managing director, and Rod Nakamoto, senior vice president, who have worked together for nearly three decades. The team also include David Sassen, vice president, private wealth analyst, and Regina Monroe, vice president, senior client associate.

The team provides a holistic approach to clients’ financial and everyday needs, according to its website. “We are here as trusted advisors to put the financial puzzle together for each and every client,” it stated.

Uriostegu’s and Nakamoto’s careers have run parallel since 1993, when they worked at Lehman Brothers Inc., according to BrokerCheck. Nakamota began his career there and Uriostegu joined the firm after a year with Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. From there, both men went to Citigroup Global Markets Inc., where they spent 13 years before joining Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. in 2006. They left for J.P. Morgan Securities in 2011 and moved Merrill Lynch in 2016.

The team will report to Nathan Crair, managing director and leader of the Southwest Division for the New York City-based Rockefeller Capital Management.
