Stifel Financial Corp. announced it has hired two financial advisors with combined client assets under management of $585 million.

Financial advisor Jeff Wells joins Stifel’s broker-dealer subsidiary, Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. Inc., in San Rafael, Calif., where he and his team will operate as Wells Wealth Management. His branch manager is David Fleming.

Wells has nearly four decades of investment experience. Since 2012, he has worked at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, where he served most recently as senior vice president, senior financial advisor. Wells and his four-member team managed $340 million in client assets. 

Wells earned a B.A. degree from Cal State Northridge and a Master’s degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Financial advisor Kevin Maxim joins Stifel’s broker-dealer subsidiary, Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. Inc., in the O’Fallon, Ill., Private Client Group office. He will also serve clients from the firm’s Frontenac, Mo., office.

After working as a health and tax auditor for KPMG Peat Marwick, Maxim got his start in the financial services industry two decades ago at Edward Jones in St. Louis. In 2001, he joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, where he served most recently as senior financial advisor, senior vice president. Before joining Stifel, Maxim and his team managed $245 million in client assets.

Maxim focuses on small business and corporate retirement plans, and advising affluent families with complex financial issues, according to his social media profile. 

He is a graduate of St. Louis University, where he earned a B.A. degree in accounting.
