Vestmark has announced that Lonnie Macdonald, 58, its chief marketing officer, died unexpectedly at home on Monday morning.

"Lonnie's passing is a tremendous loss for Vestmark and everyone else who had the pleasure of knowing him," said John Lunny, CEO of Vestmark, in released comments. "I've known Lonnie for a long time, and he was a close friend. He loved Vestmark and Vestmark loved him even more. It's extremely difficult to have to say goodbye."

Vestmark, a Wakefield, Mass.-based provider of portfolio management solutions for institutions and providers, released the following statement:

“It is with disbelief and sadness that we announce that Lonnie Macdonald, our Chief Marketing Officer, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Haverhill, MA early this morning. On behalf of all Vestmark employees, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Michelle, and the entire Macdonald family. Lonnie was an amazing human being whose positivity and passion shaped Vestmark's culture as well as the lives of thousands of friends, peers, co-workers, and clients who knew and loved him.”

Macdonald assumed his role at Vestmark in 2017 after serving in marketing and sales roles at Foreside Financial, Beacon Hill Fund Services, UMB Fund Services and GCOM solutions. He also served as a board member for the Expect Miracles Foundation, which raised funds from financial services professionals and organizations for the fight against cancer. Macdonald started his nearly 35-year career in financial services in 1986 at Fidelity Investments.

Vestmark did not list the cause of death in its announcement.

According to Macdonald's obituary, his "magnetic personality, generosity, and determination served him well throughout his 30+ year career in marketing and sales. Lonnie actively sought out opportunities to help others be their best versions of themselves, and loved watching others achieve their goals. He was a charismatic leader who deeply cared for the well-being of his employees and peers."

Macdonald is survived by his wife of 36 years, Michelle, his sons Trevor (Katie Van Hazelen) and Josh (Larina), his honorary daughter Alyssa (Boone Bollinder), his grandchildren (Carson, Mika, Jane, Miles, Lewis, Finn, and Lottie), his mother, his brothers, and his sisters.
