Mariner Wealth Advisors, a wealth advisory firm headquartered in Overland Park, Kan., has entered into an agreement to acquire SMS Capital Management, according to a news release.
It would be Mariner's seventh acquisition of the year and the second in the Houston area.
Founded by Steven M. Sheldon in 2004, SMS Capital is located in Bellaire, Texas. The firm manages more than $110 million in client assets.
A spokesperson for Mariner declined to disclose the financial details of the agreement.
Mariner CEO and President Marty Bicknell said in a news release that his company could complete up to five more acquisitions by the end of the year.
