After a 26-year career with Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo, Timothy O”Connor will return to Ameriprise Financial, where it all began for him, according to a company release.
Most recently, O’Connor was a managing director at Wells Fargo, where he spent almost 15 years. Prior to that, he spent five years at Morgan Stanley and before that, he spent six years at Merrill Lynch. He manages $143 million in assets for pre-retiree, retiree, and nonprofit clients in Huntley, Ill., the release said.
O’Connor, who started his career with Ameriprise in 1987, left in 1994 to seek more flexibility to serve the complex needs of his clients, the release said. The release said he chose to return “because the firm has made significant investments in its technology, research capabilities and product platform, all of which help him deliver a superior experience to his clients.”
O”Connor said, “It’s a different company than the one I left. I now have access to all the same products and services my clients relied on at the wirehouses, plus the digital capabilities and timely market research I need to deliver advice to clients in a collaborative way” he said.
He will be joined by client service associate Mary Losasso. His son, Ryan O’Connor, plans to join the practice on June 1 as a financial advisor, the release said.
Minneapolis-based Ameriprise has a nationwide network of about 10,000 financial advisors. The company said more than 4,000 financial advisors have joined since 2008.
